About Nina Kirste

Nina Kirste (*1990) is an architect, photographer, and designer. An internship at Espasso in New York became a turning point: There she encountered a sensuality in the Brazilian design, which led her a little later to Rio - and permanently changed her understanding of aesthetics. Back in Munich, she worked in renowned architectural offices, won competitions, and transformed a two-story attic of an Art Nouveau ensemble into living space. In 2023, she decided to go for the full range of her skills. Her gallerist, Stefan Vogdt, put her on a plane to Mexico without further ado, where she photographed the work of Luis Barragán with a Hasselblad - as a luminous study of silence, colour, and transcendence. The series was published under the title 'The Gospel of Serenity'; her works are exhibited in Germany, France and Spain.

Most recently, she worked on the German contribution 'Stresstest' for the Pavilion of Germany 2025 at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia. With the Designbuero Josef Grillmeier, she developed the visual concept and the publication - and stayed for a while in the lagoon. Nina Kirste is a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects and, as a board member of the Deutscher Werkbund Bayern, brings the topic of REPAIR into society.

"In my photographs you can find the contemplated, but also the incidental of our everyday lives. I am interested in simply letting things be, finding the beauty in the unexpected.“
