In the course of the renovation of a listed Art Nouveau building in Munich-Nymphenburg, the previously unused roof storage was expanded into two new apartments. The design uses the spatial qualities of the historic roof truss and develops flowing living areas from it with reference to the existing structure.
The richly structured facade of the late Art Nouveau building will be restored in accordance with the monument in parallel with the roof extension. The measure is supplemented by a new balcony system in the courtyard, which blends cautiously into the stock and offers the apartments additional private outdoor areas. The project was honoured with the Facade Award 2025 of the state capital Munich.
